Silk screens I made from my drawings and of course patterns, because I couldn’t resist making one…
CRAZY PATTERNS
After spending an insane amount of time trying to print them off on different kinds of papers, it’s so much easier putting everything on here! I love these, even though they are subtle compared to the extravagancy of the ladies, I think they would make cool bag materials or maybe wallpaper (?) not entirely sure, but ENJOY!
Remembering that my Nana was pretty stylish herself, I looked through some old family photos and couldn’t help but draw her and my grandpa. Creepy? I think not! (hopefully)
This is my life right now.
More drawings of stylish ladies! Some of them are now on foam board and resemble paper dolls.
CUTEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN
Recently I was given a really beautiful iPod nano by my special someone and it’s just the cutest thing I own. I couldn’t help myself, so I just HAD TO knit a tiny little case for it. I went a bit crazy and added little dots and squiggles to it! And before you say anything, THIS IS GOOD PROCRASTINATION PEOPLE.
OBSESSIVE KNITS
Since I’m doing old ladies and I love knitting, I thought I would put two and two together and combine them. Genius.
This is my attempt at knitting my poor Nana’s face which looks pretty distorted but I’m sure she would have the sense of humour to not take offense (I HOPE so…). They came out pretty cool. One is without a pattern and the other with more detail in the shirt is from a pattern I made up from drawing distorted squares onto a drawing I did (even art doesn’t teach you to draw perfect squares).
Also some shots of me in action sporting a beautiful shirt from Zara which I can’t stop wearing. I’m starting to wonder whether people can tell I wear it every day. Ahem. Thank you boyfriend for your Instagram skills.
New project! I’m afraid I have to leave Polar Expeditions behind because that’s the nature of our course. BUT I would LOVE to come back to it at some point, it has so much potential and possible work with it especially focusing on the Textile side of things. Anyway. It has been a great journey drawing middle aged men for days long. Now even weirder, I’m moving onto drawing old ladies. Judge me people.
Inspired by Advanced Style I want to look at ladies who rejoice in their old age, wrinkles and everything that comes with it. They express that joy and fearlessness in their clothes and style which can be really extravagant and mainly REALLY cool! Their attitude to life is inspiring and I want to look at their colourful lifestyle.
Enjoy!!
Final compositions of the Polar Expeditions project! I made a book to put them into which I will put up shortly. Sorry for not posting for a while, these past few weeks have been so hectic with interviews and all!
